Dear Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

I'm sorry.  I know February is Black History Month, but this year is different.  The racism you fought against in your lifetime has now become a running joke in this country.  I just read an article that told of MSNBC anchor Lawrence O'Donnell saying the following...

"The Republican party is saying that the president of the United States has bosses, that the union bosses this president around, the unions boss him around. Does that sound to you like they are consciously or subconsciously delivering the racist message that of course, of course a black man can't be the real boss."

I didn't even blink an eye.  It just passed right over my balding head. The word "racism" has become nothing more than a potential nugget for laughs during the late night comedy shows.  (Except for Saturday Night Live, of course...they have left their comedy stylings in the wake of their consistent liberal love.)

I'm sorry you had to die so young just to have these still alive dudes make a mockery of your life's work forty years later.  Nobody tried harder than you to fight against real racism.  You were the best.

But we just can't do it anymore. When calling a brownie a brownie is racist, and discussing a black hole in space is racist, the word has lost all power and all meaning.

The battle you won has been lost again when a charge of racism elicits only a roll of the eyes and an amused grin. I'm sorry you're dead, Dr. King, but I admit I'm glad you are not here to see this.

I have only one thing to say about this civility thing...

Read the blog entry linked below.  It says it all.
http://stopshouting.blogspot.com/2010/11/my-rebuttal-to-progressive-who.html

When I get mad I sputter and shake and turn red.  Then, of course, I lunge at whoever is irritating me.  This is why I stay secluded here at Father Jack's Place.  I am not someone you want to make angry out on the street. I am best in battle, not the run-up to the battle.  Call me.

Anyway, hope you enjoy and retain for frequent re-reads.  We angry ones have to stick together.

Must Read Of The Day...

You have to read this.  It's a little long for the Twitter Generation, but well worth your time. It's rare that I find an article that I wish was from my own mind, but this is one.

http://pajamasmedia.com/blog/obama-and-me/

I hope Mr. Solway is right.  I hope that someday we will all look back on these Obama years with a shake of the head and a barely concealed smile of contempt. That is something worth fighting for...

Okay, California...

...this is your chance, and it's perhaps your last chance, to prove to the rest of America, nay, to prove to the entire world that you are not dumb, stupid and ignorant. It is an accepted fact that Californians are a bit off the wall and kooky, but up to this point I have defended your previously undemonstrated innate intelligence. I've reasoned that the nuts and the kooks have to have a place to go, too, and California was available. But this Gloria Allred tear-jerking "Latina" maid thingy-ma-bob has got to be obvious even to the oblivious who migrated West and set up Hollywood.

So former governor Moonbeam wants to run your state again, does he? And the liberals are trying to convince you that this $23.00 an hour illegal alien maid debacle makes Jerry Brown the appropriate person to do that, right?

Now all you nuts and kooks out there just stop a minute and take a deep breath and try to think. How, on God's green earth, does this pathetic circus show do that? Just one fact that made any sense at all to a clear thinker would suffice. Just one.

Questions for your consideration: why was it bad for Ms Whitman to hire a Latina, as Nicky Diaz the maid seems to want to be labeled now, and pay her $ 23.00 an hour for 15 hours a week of work? (Keeping in mind that minimum wage is hovering just above $ 7.00 for the rest of the country, and working only 15 hours a week is patently pathetic.)

Although Ms Allred probably believes that she has scored some points for Mr. Moonbeam's candidacy, how did this little drama help the Latinas, and I'll throw in the Latinos, as well, to find work in California? Wouldn't employers now be a little leery to hire them even if they had the legal documentation required to work in this country? I wouldn't, would you? And be honest. You could do everything, at least everything in your power, to do the thing right and legal and still you are wrong. Not just wrong, but hounded by lawyers wrong.

When Ms Whitman found out Ms Nicky Diaz was illegal, she had to fire her to remain within the law, but she still did not report Ms Nicky to the authorities, thus allowing her to remain in the United States. That action seems misguided to clear thinkers who want to control illegal immigration, but to Californians who are determined to have all and sundry pop through the border and take over the state that probably should sound like a kindness. Does it sound kinder than Mr. Brown's agency that checks "twice a month" to make sure all his workers are legal? To these atrophied ears it does.

So I am totally confused about what California wants or what it thinks it needs. But it's not my place to decide. Unfortunately, that decision is up to you as residents of that state. If it were up to me, the entire populace out their would be spanked and sent to bed without supper. And Gloria Allred would be facing the wall with a mangled piece of chewing gum attached to her nose.

But that's just me.

September 11, 2001 Tribute...I Made This.

I have decided to undertake becoming proficient in the Flash software. Flash and I have our ups and downs, as I have no prior programming experience and am dependent of the timeline. Wow...doesn't that sound swanky? No, not really, as you Flashaholics out there will no doubt realize.

I made this Flash presentation last year for 911. It is simple, but then so am I.
Hope you enjoy.

Daisy Khan And Her Magic Wand

I see. According to Daisy Khan, the opposition to the Ground Zero Mosque is fueled by hatred of Muslims. Don't think so. But since you are so wise, dear Daisy, let's assume that it is. With a wave of your wand, it's done...all people opposed to the building of the mosque near Ground Zero hate Muslims.

Hmm, nope. Still not feeling it. Not feeling the guilt with which you so cavalierly hoped to cow us. In fact, you've rather freed up my thoughts.

If we who oppose the Ground Zero Mosque do so because we hate Muslims, one could ask who has a better right to hate Muslims than the good people of America? After what Muslims did to our country on September 11, 2001, what could be a more normal reaction?

So let's recap. All people who oppose the Ground Zero Mosque hate Muslims. This hatred would be a normal reaction to the murders of innocent Americans and others via terror attacks planned and perpetrated by Muslims on September 11, 2001. Ergo, said American people should be thrilled to have a mosque celebrating the religion of said Muslim terrorists built near Ground Zero. Got it.

Whew...that was close. I was laboring under the misapprehension that a mosque built so close to Ground Zero would be in very bad taste. Kind of like a serial killer who feels powerful because the bodies of his victims are buried close by. But it couldn't be anything like that, now could it? If it were, you and the other proponents of this mosque would be determined to have it built there and only there...oh, wait. You are.

So it's just plain old bigotry and Islamaphobia on our side, not cold calculation and stealth jihad on your side, right Ms Khan? Thanks for clearing that one up for me. And don't stop talking, Daisy...you're helping me understand more than you could possibly know.

This Is What It's All About, Charlie Brown

For me, the desire...no, the determination, not to have the mosque built so close to Ground Zero boils down to this YouTube audio. Listen to it, if you can. Then multiply it by approximately 3,000.

For her, for this young lady who didn't make it out, and all the other people murdered in the name of Islam on September 11, 2001, there should be no mosque near Ground Zero. No mosque near Ground Zero. If you want to call me a bigot, or Islamaphobic, have at it. I will wear that badge proudly in Ms Doi's name.
